August 1

2014 Wine & TAPAS Dinner  will be held at the Greenwade Saloon in Cat Spring, Texas! Tickets are $75.00 per person and space is limited so reserve your seat now! Beginning at 6:00 guests will be served a full dinner of exotically flavored tapas ("little dishes") expertly paired with a variety of wines served in your own take-home commemorative wine glass! 37th Annual Schulenburg Festival - Going on at Wolters Park Friday - Sunday, this is a great event for the whole family! There will be a BBQ Cook-off, Carnival, Arts & Crafts booths and a CPRA Rodeo at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. 37th Annual Messina Hof Winery and Resort Harvest Festival - The public is invited to gather and stomp grapes, enjoy wine tastin classes, and dine on Vineyard Cuisine at Messina Hof's 37th Annual Harvest Festival. For the first four weekends in August, Harvest activies and speicalty dinners will take place at Messina Hof Winery in Bryan. August 2

Chappell Hill Garden Club's Event - "Light Up Your Bed with Bulbs" is going on Saturday at the WJ "Bill" Rankin Agricultural Complex on 1409 Old Mill Creek Road at Blinn College in Brenham. Program begins at 9 am with the Fall Plant Sale and the Bulb Presentation with Margaret Charry of Abot-Ipco kicks off at 10:15. You will have an opportunity to order bulbs immediately following the program. High Caliber Gun and Knife Show - There will be an exciting gun and knife show at the Brazos Valley Expo Center Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm. Visit saddleandsirloin.tamu.edu for more up-to-date information!


August 3

Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Frelsburg's Country Festival - Holy Mass will begin at 8:45, followed by coffee and pastries. The fish fry kicks-off at 11 and drive thru plates are available! Other activities include a live auction, bingo, ring toss, country store, fish pond and toy drawing! Live music will be presented by Douglas Polasek & DJ Ricky Canik, and a Free Dance with entertainment by the Red Ravens will take place after the auction! August 6

Blood Drive! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Brazos Valley will hold a blood drive on Wednesday and Thursday, August 6-7 at Germania Insurance Northside shop building from 9:00 - 3:00 each day (Hwy 290 at Becker Drive). La Grange Little League - La Grange Little League will hold their annual membership meeting on Wednesday, August 6 beginning at 6:30 pm at the Randolph Recreation Center. Those interested in joining must attend this meeting and should arrive at 6 pm for a short informational meeting. Any questions should be directed to current board members.


August 7

Farm Street Opry "Pickin' and Grinnin' with the Chickens" - Doors to the Bastrop Convention and Exhibit Center open at 5:30 and the show starts at 7:00. This month's entertainment includes Tom Morris, Tori Vourganas, Arnold Parker and The Farm Street Opry Band. Admission is $5.00 and kids 10 and under are free!


August 8

"The Swan" Presented by Thrivent Financial - Dennis Swanberg, Pastor turned Comedian, has been winning the hearts of audiences across the country. He has numerous publications, video productions and television shows! Head out to St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville for this show benefiting Habitat for Humanity! August 9

Piano Concert & Ice Cream Social - Bellville United Methodist Church presents "In the Good Old Summer Time" Piano Concert and Ice Cream Social. Rob Landes will be performing beginning at 2:00 pm. This is a fundraiser for Ruth Circle and a Love Offering will be taken.


Lone Star Star Gallery Trade Days - Saturday and Sunday the Lone Star Gallery in Warrenton is hosting Trade Days! Saturday from 10:00 - 6:00 and Sunday from 10:00 - 4:00 you can purchase vintage, antique, re-purposed, modern and shabby items. Fayette County Sheriff's Posse Parade - Parade kicks-off at 10 am at the Courthouse Square in La Grange. Come out for a great event for the whole family!


Fireman's Fiesta - Support your local fire department at this year's Fireman's Fiesta! This event will be held at Brenham Fireman's Training Center and will kick-off with an all-you-can-eat Steak and Sausage meal from 5:30 - 8:00. The auction will start at 7:00. You can purchase your tickets at the door for $15 or in advance for only $12 at Robert's Service Station, K&M Grocery, Dan's Meat Market or from any member of the Fire Department!


1st Annual Cowboy Chuteout - The Washington County Fairgounds in Brenham is hosting this new event! Gates open at 6:30 and the event will begin at 7:30. This will be a night full of bull riding, welcoming open riders and junior riders ages 11 - 15 years. Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids 6 and under. 


August 12

New Addition Multi-Purpose Gym - Brenham Christian Academy will be celebrating the new gym with the ribbon cutting going on at 5:30 pm at 2111 South Blue Bell Road in Brenham.


Networking Breakfast - This month's event is being hosted by Verizon Wireless in Brenham. It begins at 7:45 am at 270 Hwy 290 W. Breakfast is being sponsored by BBVA Compass.


August 13

Mobile Technology Seminar - Toni Harris will be hosting a seminar on why mobile cannot be ignored, how it is the new reality for small businesses and nonprofit organizations and what you can do to help your clients become more mobile-friendly! This event will be held at the Blinn College Student Center in Brenham from 11:30 pm - 1:00 pm. Cost is $15 for chamber members and $25 for non-members.

42nd Annual Celebration - The Bellville Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating 125 years of service! Beginning at 5:00 pm, you can head out to the Austin County Fairgrounds for tons of fun activities including an Auction, Carnival, Cakewalk and BBQ Chicken and Sausage dinner. Drive thru tickets are also available for purchase.

Horseman's Market Day - Head out to the East Pavilion of the Brazos County Expo Center for this great event where you can buy, sell or trade all things equine! Hog Splash MUDD Volleyball Tournament - Hosted by Hospice Brazos Valley, this event will take place behind Slovacek's Sausage Store in Snook. People from all over the Brazos Valley are invited to get down and dirty for this worthy cause. The deadline to register is August 19 at noon. 9th Annual Texas Word Wrangler Festival - The Giddings Public Library and Cultural Center and the Giddings Area Chamber of Commerce invite you to participate with them on Friday as they "Celebrate Texas Authors"! Over 20 authors will be at the event for readings ,excerpts, and book signings at individual author stations. This year's festival will also incldue a special program honoring the Home Town Heroes. To kickoff this festival, a Gala will be held Thursday, September 11 at 6:00 pm, followed by a program at 7:00. Sponsorships are still being accepted.


December 13

Hempstead Festival of Lights - From 4:00 - 9:00 pm you can enjoy the annual celebration taking place at Hempstead Gazebo Park. Forever Young Senior Center Resale Shop - Help out by donating to this great cause! The shop accepts linens, clothing, household decor, furniture and more. All donations can be dropped off at 702 East  Alamo.  If you have items to be picked up, call the shop at 836-1430.
