2014 Community Calendar


Are you a preschool mother?  Do you long for a friend, an uninterrupted meal, and some encouragement?  If so, Brenham MOPS would love to have you! Come experience community, fellowship and support from other moms of preschoolers.  MOPS meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday at Champion Fellowship Church from 9am-11am.  Loving childcare is provided for children ages birth-kindergarten.  Please contact the Champion Fellowship office at 979-277-9090 or Missy Manning at 979-277-8407 for more information.


The Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, offers two public story times weekly: After school story time is every Tuesday, 4:00pm and Preschool story time is every Wednesday, 10:15am

November 25

16th Annual Taste of The Brazos Valley Ag Breakfast hosted by the B/CS Chamber of Commerce.  It will be from 7-8:30am at the Brazos County Expo Center.  Admission is $15.

November 27

Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the First Presbyterian Church in Giddings.  It will be from 11-1pm and everyone is welcome! Please call 979-542-9020 to rsvp.  Donations are not necessary, but will benefit Lee County Relay for life.


7th Annual Turkey and Blessings Dinner from 12-3pm at the Somerville Senior Center off HWY 36.  Donations appreciated. Call Richard at 979-595-6272.

December 2

The Champion Women's Ministry presents- "Best Ugly Christmas Tree Ever", a women's evening of praise, laughter, and desert. At 6:30 at Champion Worship Center in Brenham, tickets are $10 an are on sale now!


December 5 & 6th

Christmas Stroll And Lighted Parade "Unwrap the Magic Of Christmas". Downtown Brenham.  Parade fri at 6pm, dealine to enter is 11/19. There will be ice skating, live entertainment, shopping, Gingerbread Home Tour & more!

December 6

26th Annual Toy Run in Bryan/College Station.  Registration starts at 8am at Independence Harley Davidson.  Go to www.ihdtoyrun.org for all the details.


Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center 2014 Gala Honoring Texas Czech Bands of the past.  6pm, at the Pavilion Hall, West Fairgrounds Road in LaGrange.  Meal, auction, and music! Advance tickets are $75 per person.  email info@czechtexas.org

December 7

Christmas Country Homes Tour in Burton from 1-5pm $10 per person and Christmas at the Depot in Burton from 11-1pm for $8 per person. Help support the Lake Loons Annual Toy Run by bringing an unwrapped children's gift to drop off at the depot. For more info go to burtonheritagesociety.org

Time again for the Fortnightly Christmas Home Decorating Contest in Brenham! 6 categories: Best overall, Christmas Elegance, Religious, Best Door, Sports, and Inflatable's.  Deadline to enter is Dec 8, Call Renee Mueller at 979-836-6618 or email renee_mueller@hotmail.com.  Judging will be Dec 9-11.

December 10

19th Annual Food for Families Food Drive. Donations can be made from 6am-7pm at Mid South Synergy in Navasota, and at KBTX in Bryan.  All donations will be donated to the Brazos Valley Food Bank.  Non perishable items are needed, but Monetary donations are most valuable.

December 13

Hempstead Festival of Lights - From 4:00 - 9:00 pm you can enjoy the annual celebration taking place at Hempstead Gazebo Park. Join them for entertainment, vendors, parade and even a visit from Santa, himself! They will also have a home
and business decorating contest with great prizes up for grabs!

1st Annual Cowboy Christmas Ball, starting at 5pm at The Burleson County Cowboy Church in Caldwell. 6pm is the steak and chicken dinner, and from 7-11 music from the Dennis Ivey Band. 979-567-6723


December 14

A&M United Methodist Church's Live Nativity 
Sunday, December 14th at 6:00pm at A&M UMC Parking Lot.
All ages and families are invited to experience the Christmas Story told by our youth group with music and live animals. Join them afterwards for hot chocolate and cookies. COOL (Christ Over Our Life) - Christ to the Nations Church is offering COOL Recovery Program meetings for alcohol and substance abuse. The meetings are held Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm at Christ to the Nations Church, 1407 Main in Brenham.


Help out with CASA! If you’re looking for a new way to make changes, resolve to help others in need. Consider becoming a CASA volunteer and make a difference in a child’s life and your own! More than 24,000 children in the Texas foster care system need caring adults to look out for them. They need a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate®) volunteer to help get through the foster care system as quickly as possible, and into loving homes where all their needs are met and their dreams can flourish. Training begins in February. Every child in foster care needs someone to help them through this difficult time. CASA for Kids of South Central Texas is a nonprofit that advocates for abused and neglected children in Austin , Colorado , Waller, and Washington Counties . Christian Motorcyclists Association in Brenham - CMA is an international, interdenominational, evangelistic motorcycle ministry whose vision is "changing the world, one heart at a time". This worldwide ministry is dedicated to reaching people for Christ in the highways and byways through the avenue of motorcycling. A new chapter is forming in the area and they are looking for members! Forever Young Senior Center Resale Shop - Help out by donating to this great cause! The shop accepts linens, clothing, household decor, furniture and more. All donations can be dropped off at 702 East  Alamo.  If you have items to be picked up, call the shop at 836-1430. All proceeds from the resale shop help provide lunches for homebound senior citizens throughout  Washington County. For more information, call the Senior Center at 836-6552.
